Whats New with Women of Faith

What's Age Got To DoRobin has written a brand-new book called What’s AGE got to do with it?  Living Your Happiest & Healthiest Life. (Maybe you heard about it on the Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, or Inside Edition?) Robin says, “I wrote this book, not only to answer questions about what I do to stay healthy and in shape, but to remind women that it’s time to move yourself to the top of your list of priorities. If you can’t do it for you, then do it for your family . . . I want you to join me and get excited about living your life in a passionate, happy and healthy way. It’s never too early to start taking care of yourself, but it’s also never, ever too late.” Order a copy here.

Congrats to Steven Curtis Chapman on nominations for our industry’s highest honor, the Grammy Award! That’s TWO nominations! Nominated for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album (This Moment) and for his contributions to MercyMe’s nominated song “You Reign.” You can see (and hear!) Steven at many of Women of Faith’s 2009 event, A Grand New Day. See when we’ll be in your area.

Today is World AIDS Day.

It’s the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time: Every day, thousands of children lose a parent to AIDS. YOU can help. How?

We recommend two organizations working in Africa (and around the world) to combat this disease.

World Vision: Sponsor a child, change a life! - Just $35 a month. Another option is purchasing a gift - your money will be used to help World Vision’s efforts around the world

Hoops of Hope: Shoot free throws, raise money―help children in Africa

Even as you read this sentence a child is losing a parent because of AIDS. In 2001, UNICEF estimated that 6,000 children lose a parent to AIDS every day. Each child has a name — and a heart-breaking story. Please help.

Ayiesha WoodsWith only one album, celebrated singer/songwriter Ayiesha Woods accomplished more than most artists achieve in a lifetime. Its title was unassuming and self-explanatory, but Introducing Ayiesha Woods did more than merely introduce her: it established her as one of the most precocious and promising new artists in Christian music. A GRAMMY® nomination, a Dove Award nod for New Artist of the Year, appearances in a number of high-profle tours, and universal acclaim were some of the highlights of Woods’ initial time in the limelight. It’s a winning streak that is bound to continue with Love Like This, her second release.

Love Me Never Leave MeIn case you were wondering, it’s pronounced “uh-nath-uh-muh.” It describes a loathsome thing, something detested, cursed, devoted to evil, deserving of divine punishment and condemned to eternal destruction.

Not very cheery, is it?

Nothing could be less like Hannah Schwartz, a sweet young Amish woman who is torn between her love for her family and faith and her attraction to an Englisch (non-Amish) sheriff’s deputy. Should she turn her back on all she holds dear? Or cast aside the man she loves?

That decision is taken out of her hands when she returns from a clandestine meeting with Reece only to find her parents have been cruelly murdered.

What happens next?

That would be telling. You’ll have to read the book to find out.

Anathema is as intricate as an Amish quilt and award-winning author Colleen Coble has stitched the plot’s many pieces together with a sure hand. More than a murder mystery, it’s a look at bitterness, forgiveness, and the long-lasting effects of each.

It’s also a really good read. And that’s one thing that is definitely not an “anathema.”

Revolve Bus Tour

Finally, reality TV that’s safe for the whole family! The season premieres with the start of the Revolve Summer Bus Tour, and with four people living in close quarters for the next four weeks, there is no doubt that personalities will clash. Sean and Chad figure out that their description of humor isn’t humorous to everyone, especially to Jenna and Courtney. However, when Krystal Meyers joins the group, the guy’s sarcastic humor sparks an interesting conversation about tattoos and piercings. But this isn’t the only challenging conversation that happens in the first episode of Revolve: Rockin’ the Road. Will the challenges in the cast’s personal lives get in the way of their goals for the summer tour? How will these four friends handle living together in such a small space?  Stay tuned to find out!

Revolve Bus Tour

As you know, Hurricane Ike devastated much of the Houston/Galveston area. What you may not know is Women of Faith has an Infinite Grace conference scheduled in Houston on October 24-25.  Now, more than ever, the women of south Texas who have lost so much need the encouragement, inspiration, and love of a Women of Faith event. Unfortunately, for many of them, the funds they would have used for Women of Faith had to go towards evacuation expenses, home repairs, and basic necessities of life.

That’s where you come in: we’re inviting you to join us in encouraging our sisters from the Houston area.  Will you sponsor one or more women to the Houston conference? Will you show them somebody cares? It could mean so much, especially right now.
